Praline Butter Cookie with Cherries

Ingredients:

1 c. butter/margarine (2 sticks), softened

½ c. firmly packed brown sugar

1 t. vanilla

1 egg

2 c. all-purpose flour

½ c. sugar

½ t. salt

½ t. baking powder

1 c. coarsely chopped praline pecans

1 c. Cherry Stop Dried Montmorency or Balaton Cherries

Instructions:

  1. In large bowl, beat together butter & sugar until creamy; beat in eggs & vanilla.  
  2. In separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt; add to butter mixture, stirring until thoroughly combined.   
  3. Stir in cherries & praline pecans until well mixed.  
  4. Using a tablespoon of dough, roll into a ball & place 2” apart on ungreased cookie sheet; press down with a fork.
  5.  Bake 9-12 minutes at 350.  
  6. While allowing to cool on pan 1 minute, place a praline pecan in the center of each cookie, pressing gently.
  7. Transfer to wire rack to cool completely.

Makes about 2 ½  dozen.
