Harbor View Lavender Farm History

Harbor View Nursery & Lavender Farm is family-owned and operated on beautiful Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City, Michigan. Since we started in 1993, we’ve treated every customer like they were a part of our family; in addition to quality products, it's our personalized customer service that has helped make us grow. 

We started our business on one of the original Old Mission Peninsula farms. Since the old cherry farm had been empty for nearly a decade before we came to it, it has been a tremendous transformation over the past decades, from building renovations and land uses. 

We began a small nursery selling flats of annuals and hanging baskets purchased from another local grower on pallets in the front yard. Gradually we began growing our own flowers, selling mulch and other nursery plants. In 2008, we started a small patch of lavender as a test and made a few products in our home kitchen, selling to our local nursery customers. 

We still operate the nursery, but the lavender farm has grown to include over six acres of lavender and several retail locations in the area. We added The Cherry Stop in 2018 and now have a commercial kitchen where we produce over 40 lavender products and 35 cherry products, all made in small batches and sold in our stores, a few others, the Traverse City Farmers Market, and online. 

Visitors to the farm can expect the main lavender bloom from mid-June through mid-July and a second bloom in one or more of our many fields through September. In early - mid July, visitors can also pick sweet cherries, a fun experience for all ages!
